Compare to Symbol

In addition to the main symbol on an intraday or historical chart, you can add extra symbol(s) to plot as a comparison.  These additional symbol(s) are added as technical indicators to the top and/or bottom of the chart:

 

 

Right click on the chart to "Select Indicators" and select Compare to Symbol indicator to add it to the Upper or Lower Chart.  Another way is to start typing the symbol to add directly on the chart.   A small windows appears same as when you want to replace the symbol on the chart. Instead of clicking on the OK button which will replace the current symbol with the typed symbol, click either to Add Symbol At Top or Add Symbol At Bottom.

 

 

Once the symbol is added to the chart, you can edit the parameters as any indicator you have on the chart - click on the edit button to the left of the selected indicator on the select indicators screen or double click on the legend displayed on the chart for that (symbol) indicator:

 

 

Select either Symbol or Index to add to the chart. If you select Index, there is a drop down list of Indices available for you to select from. This list is taken from the selected data source for Indices selected to appear in the Indices panel. The Point Value selection list determines the point plotted for the added symbol. Other options are the same as available for other indicators.

 

The newly added symbols are backfilled (auto and manual) in the same manner as the main symbol on the chart. You can explicitly backfill/backfill as the additional symbols from the right click menu on the indicator's legend directly on the chart. Other options are the same as available for other indicators.

 

Symbol(s) added to the upper chart are plotted as a percent up or down on the same scale from the start point on the chart.  Each chart can have it's own start point and the percent is plotted for all the symbols from this point.  The default start point location is at the leftmost visible part of the chart.  Hover your mouse at the start point to show a vertical line with anchors.  You can drag the anchor to another location to set a new comparison start point or right click on the anchor for options to set the start point At Left Side of Chart (default) or set a Custom start point:

 

Specify the starting anchor point for the symbol comparison either as a Relative or Absolute value.

 

The price (Y) scale can be set to display both Price and %, a % only, or Price only.  Right click anywhere on the upper price scale for these options:
