Portfolio View

Print this Topic  Top of Page  Introduction

This screen  allows you to select the columns that you want displayed in the main portfolio tracking screen. You can access it either through the VIEW menu or by clicking on the MENU button.

To create a new view, click on the New View button and give the selection a name. To modify and existing view, select it from Custom View drop down list.  To delete the selected view, click on the Delete View button.

Available columns will be shown in the left column.  Selected columns will be shown in the right column.  To add a column, highlight it in the list on the left and either double-click on it or press the right arrow button.  It will be added at the position currently highlighted in the right column.  To remove the column from the table, highlight it in the list on the right and either double-click on it or press the left arrow button. Use the up and down buttons to rearrange the order of the columns in the list on the right.

You can also set certain columns to be Bold or Italic or Both by selecting the column you want to set in the left list box and using the panel below the two list boxes to change the appearance.

Most of the columns are self explanatory and are standard columns used by all sites.  Some special ones are defined below:

ChangeThe difference between the Last price and Previous Close.  This is returned from the site.  You can also have QuoteTracker compute the change in Data Sources/Quotes as some sites may not return accurate change at times.

Val Chg %The % of Change.

TickShows the current direction of the Bid Price.  If the current value is higher than the previous displayed (fetched) value, the tick will be GREEN and point up.  If the current value is lower, the tick will be RED and point down.  The tick is (generally) not computed.  Not all sites support the tick.  For sites that do, they may not be returned for all symbols.

Avg VolThe average daily volume of the cumulative trading volume during the last three months (fundamental data).

Prev. VolThe total volume of the previous day.

Vol%The percent of today's current volume in relation to the Avg. Vol.

Day Range %: Indicates the percent of where within the daily range (High/low of the day), the current  last price is.  It is computed as (Last-Low)/(High-Low)*100.  It will be RED if it less than 25% and GREEN if it is greater than 75%.  There is an option in Preferences to color the last price column background based on the Range %.

ChangeOp (and %): The standard Change column is the change in Last Price from Previous Close price.  This column shows the Change from the Open price.

Gap (and %): Difference between the Open price and Previous Close price.

Open to High: Difference between the Open price and the High (of the day) price.

Open to Low: Difference between the Open price and the Low (of the day) price.

Spread (and %): The difference between the bid and ask.

% Port: The precent of holding for this stock vs. the entire portfolio holdings.

Quote Trend: Ten color coded bars that indicate the direction of the latest quotes.  Each bar denotes a bid, ask or both.  The latest bar is added to the right as the trend scrolls to the left.  The column starts out with a series of dots that are replaced by the colored bars shown below as each new quote comes in. If there is no change in the trend, the dot will remain displayed in that position if the option Show Unchanged QuoteTrend is checked in the right click menu on the QuoteTrend column:

If either the bid or the ask price is up, a GREEN bar is added.

If either the bid or the ask price is down, a RED bar is added.

If the bid price is up and the ask price is down, the top half of the bar is RED and the bottom half is GREEN.

If the bid price is down and the ask price is up, the top half of the bar is GREEN, and the bottom half is RED.

If both the bid and ask prices are up, a bright GREEN bar is added.

If both the bid and ask prices are down, a bright RED bar is added.

ChartDisplays a mini chart, which when double clicked, brings up the full Intraday Chart.  Right click menu on this column allows you to set the period of the inline chart which is specific to each portfolio.

PressureShows the ratio of shares traded at or below the bid (Red) vs. at or above the ask (Green) over the last 30 trades (quotes with volume).  It is similar to the color coding used in Raw data to show buys vs. sells (pressure).  This indicator is also available directly on the Intraday Charts.

Separator:  This adds a vertical separator bar to the portfolio at the indicated position.  Unlike the other columns in the view, this can be added multiple times (up to 20 per view).

Row #: Displays a sequential line number for the row.

Note: Displays the Notes you entered for a symbol in the Portfolio Setup screen.

Delta, Gamma, In/Out of Money, Open Interest, Rho, Theta, Vega: These are specific to option symbols. Although they may be selected, they will only show data if it is applicable to the symbol and supported by the selected data provider.

Notes:

Not all the columns you select are supported by all sites.  QuoteTracker is aware what data is supported by which sites. These unsupported columns will be automatically hidden on the portfolio screen, even though they are selected.

If you entered stock information (Quantity, Base Price, etc.) in your portfolio, the appropriate columns, such as Quantity, Paid, Value Change ($), Gain, Note, etc. if you select them, will be displayed and/or computed for you with totals.  Most of the other columns are not computed by the program.  They are fetched from the site and displayed.

For most sites, the fundamental data (data that does not change throughout the day, such as 52 week high and Low, Previous close, etc.) are not fetched from the site you select.  These items can be refreshed individually by selecting Refresh Fundamental Data from the Portfolio menu.
