Portfolio and Trading Account Synchronization

Print this Topic  Top of Page  Introduction

For your TD AMERITRADE account(s), you have an option to synchronize the trading account to a QuoteTracker portfolio. This tab, accessed by selecting Trading Setup or Data Sources/Proxy from the Options Menu or from the  or the MENU button on the main screen:

Synchronize with Portfolio - Checking this option will create a portfolio or reset a portfolio so that it is synchronized to your TD AMERITRADE account positions. Unchecking the option will un-synchronize the portfolio from the trading account and give you the option to delete the portfolio. You can also delete this portfolio directly to un-synchronize the account.

If you have setup a trading account(s) prior to a version of QuoteTracker where this feature was available, you will be prompted to do so the first time you start the program:

This portfolio will appear in Portfolio lists followed by a yellow S indicating that the portfolio is synchronized to a trading account:

The portfolio will automatically contain your holdings and will automatically add and delete positions (symbols) as the account changes. The name initially given to this portfolio when it is created is TDA followed by the User ID of the account (if the User ID is main1234, the created portfolio will be TDA - main1234).  This name can be changed by editing the portfolio.  Other than the name of the portfolio, you can only change the commission or notes for the symbols. Although you can delete this portfolio to un-synchronize the account, you can not add or delete symbols in the synchronized portfolio.
