Quick Alerts

Print this Topic  Top of Page  Introduction

This option allows to you to quickly and easily enter alerts for the symbols in your portfolio.  You can access this screen on the Quick Alerts tab of the Portfolio and Alerts Alerts menu, which you can get to through  through the Alerts menu, Portfolio menu, the MENU button, by right clicking on a symbol or by clicking on the button on the main portfolio screen:

Select the specific portfolio you want to work with.  Select ***All Stocks*** to access all symbols across all your portfolios.  Select ***All Indices*** selects the indices in the Indices Panel being tracked on the main screen.  Note that for the main indices (the ones in the built in list) in Data Sources/Indices), the program uses internal index symbols which may or may not be the same symbols as appear in the panel.  These are shown before the displayed symbol in parenthesis and are the same symbols used for the alerts.  Select ***Watchlist*** to access the symbols in the current active Watchlist.

The right panel will display all the symbols available whether there are alerts associated with the symbol or not with columns for the most common alert types  Tab across the columns for each symbol row and enter or remove the alert types (Low Price, High Price, News (yes or no check box) and/or Volume), you want triggered or removed.  You can not enter or modify the actions for the alerts here.  If the alert is already present on the system, it will retain the actions.  If this is a new alert, the default actions in Alert Defaults will be used.

To enter or modify alerts for other columns, or fine tune the triggering actions (pop up, audio, etc.)  you must do so on the detailed alerts screen.

To get alerts data that you have in Excel, set up symbols (by row) with at least two or more columns in Excel, in the same order as the columns appear in the Quick Alerts screen:

In Excel, highlight and copy the alerts (rows, columns -  including the symbol) that you want to place in the program's Quick Alerts entry screen and  then click on the Paste from Excel button.  The data will then be added (pasted)  into the Quick Alerts screen, matching the symbols there already, as needed.
