Ticker Tape

Print this Topic  Top of Page  Introduction

You can display a scrolling Ticker Tape by selecting it from the Tools menu.

The Ticker Tape can be dragged anywhere on your screen.  Dragging it to the top or bottom edge of the screen will dock it there. It remains on the screen even if QuoteTracker is minimized.  The Right and Left arrows (on the right of the ticker) control the speed and direction of the scroll and the X closes the ticker tape.  When the ticker is docked, an Up arrow will appear.  Click on it to undock it and return it to its previous position and size.

Right clicking on a symbol in the ticker will pop up the standard options for the symbol, including options specific to the ticker.  There are options to Dock to Top, Dock To Bottom and Undock, depending on the location of the ticker.  The first option, Properties allows you to configure the ticker:

You can select which Portfolios (including the Indices) you want to show.  You can also add Additional Symbols that you have in your portfolios. Separate each symbol with a space.

NOTE:  The ticker does NOT fetch quotes on its own.  It simply displays the information already updating in your portfolios.  You can not introduce new symbols in the Additional Symbols box.  If you have portfolios checked and/or symbols entered that are not currently updating in portfolios, watchlist or charts, they will not be update in the ticker tape either.

Choose the colors and fonts you want to use for the various elements of the display.  Your selections are shown in the preview box below the Scroll Speed slider control.

QuoteTracker remembers (and will restore) the position and state (open or closed) of the Ticker Tape from session to session.
